, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Liberia expects partnership with China in developing its private sector as the country is seeking to recover from the Ebola crisis, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has said.

The remarks came on Monday when Sirleaf was visiting the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex where the Chinese government constructed an Ebola treatment unit worth 41 million U.S. dollars to help fight against the disease.

According to Sirleaf, Liberia's economic recovery is based on the growth of the private sector.

In this regard, the president says her government welcomes China's engagement.

Sirleaf said the Chinese government recently donated items valued at 5 million U.S. dollars to assist with Liberia's post- Ebola recovery.

She said the donations have started Liberia's preparation for post-Ebola recovery and will be highlighted when she joins the presidents of Guinea and Sierra Leone to discuss post-Ebola recovery strategies in a meeting to be held in the United States.

Sirleaf said that throughout its period of struggle, Liberia has always been remembered and assisted by China.

"China has always stood with Liberia as a true friend
," Sirleaf said, noting China's assistance and contributions to her country's fight against the Ebola disease should be appreciated by all Liberians.

China was the first to render international assistance to Liberia during the virus outbreak.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) announced Tuesday it was pushing back the date of the second round of ticket sales for the 2014 Brazil World Cup games to Nov. 11, because it had yet to notify all the winners of the first-round lottery.

The world football governing body said in a statement the date had to be pushed back six days to give the initial lottery participants a chance to find out their status, in case they needed to reapply.

FIFA Marketing Director Thierry Weil
, who announced the new date, said it was important for those who participated in the first round to know whether they had obtained their tickets or not, before the second round begins, to ensure ""equal opportunity"" among the participants.

""Since the applications for the next round will be processed in the order they were received, it is absolutely necessary for all of the applicants in the first round to find out if their request was accepted when we resume the sales
,"" he said.

In addition, the FIFA said it needed the supervision of the Brazilian government, as host of the sporting event, in organizing a special lottery for fans with limited resources.

The government of Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff designated officials from a state bank and the Sports Ministry to oversee the lottery, which is to take place in the city of Manchester
, England.

According to the FIFA, the first phase of the lottery will decide who gets one of more than 300,000 low-priced entrances to be distributed among the elderly, students and recipients of a scholarship program.

The FIFA said all of the first-round applicants will be notified by Nov. 10.

, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of Japan and South Korea on Thursday reiterated their appeal on strengthening sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) for its aggressive nuclear program, as they met on a economic forum held here.

""The DPRK is becoming an unprecedentedly grave and imminent threat...It is escalating challenges to peace and prosperity to the northeast Asia and the entire world,"" Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on the plenary session of the Third Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

Abe said it is necessary to make the DPRK immediately and fully comply with all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programs ""in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.""

Echoing Abe's appeal, South Korea President Moon Jae-in also voiced the desire of keeping the pressure of sanctions on the DPRK.

""I thank Russia for its active participation in regards to sanctions against the DPRK and I hope Russia will continue its support on this matter
,"" he said.

During a phone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump late Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping said China has been adamant in preserving international nuclear non-proliferation regime, maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula, and resolving the nuclear issue through talks.

The general direction should head toward a peaceful settlement of the issue, Xi said
, adding that dialogue combined with a set of comprehensive measures is best for seeking a long-term solution.

The DPRK on Sunday successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb capable of being carried by an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which was the sixth nuclear test by the country so far, further worsening the hair-trigger confrontation on the Korean Peninsula.

Differing with the Japanese and South Korean leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin said whipping up hostility would not settle the Korean Peninsula issue, as the DPRK will not be frightened and give up on its nuclear program.

, Russia prefers to involve the DPRK into the regional cooperation in a bid to ease the tension around the Korean Peninsula, and has already offered specific proposals which include building a joint railway connecting Russia and the Korean Peninsula through the DPRK and the development of pipeline transport, Putin said.

On Wednesday, Putin called for a ""step-by-step settlement"", saying it is pointless to push the DPRK into a corner as sanctions and pressure could be counterproductive.

""Now more than ever
, everyone needs to be calm and avoid steps that lead to an escalation of tension,"" he said.
